Din data de 1 iulie pe sait-ul hiphoppalace.com se pot vota nominalizaţii la premiile Underground Music Awards 2008, pe scurt UMA. Votarea va avea loc doar online şi se va termina pe 31 iulie, iar câştigătorii vor fi anunţaţi la cea de-a şasea gală oficială a premiilor UMA ce va avea loc pe data de 10 august în New York.

Evenimentul organizat de Urban Threshold Enterprise Inc. are 32 de categorii şi susţine în primul rând artişti şi case de discuri independente. Cu atât de multe premii de dat merită să ştim categoriile la care artiştii sunt nominalizaţi:

3. Most Dynamic Rap Group or Duo
4. Indie Album of the Year

6. Most Exciting Artist of the Year
7. Producer of the Year

10. Best Lyricist
11. Most Influential Radio DJ
12. The UMA Song of the Year
13. Best Male Rapper
14. Best Female Rapper
15. Best Rap Group
16. Best Rap Duo
17. Most Original Male Artist
18. Best Underground Movement
19. Best MidWest Artist
20. Best International Artist
21. The Producer Palace (Best Emerging Producer) Award
22. Best R&B Female
23. Best R&B Male
24. Best Female R&B Group
25. Best Male R&B Group
26. Most Promising Female Singer
27. Most Promising Male Rapper
28. Best Live Performance
29. Most original Group or Duo
30. Best Southern Rapper
